Senior Product Designer
About 90five
We are an independent design and development studio that partners with founders and teams across industries and continents to redefine, reinvent, or amplify how they connect with the world. We're a home for the obsessed, the ones who know that "good enough" simply isn't enough. Our team of strategists, designers, and developers has been creating brands, websites, and products since 2020. Since then, we've delivered 100+ projects and impacted millions of users.
About the role
We are looking for someone who transforms user needs into compelling product experiences. You will also research, design, and optimize user interfaces and interactions across digital products. You will collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to develop user-centered solutions that balance business goals with user satisfaction.
Working directly with our design team and international marketing and development colleagues across Münster, Sofia, London, and NYC, you'll be part of focused teams that work on only two projects at a time, enabling deep focus and exceptional results. To maintain efficient collaboration, you must be located in CET, GMT, or EST time zones with availability during our core working hours.
Your responsibilities
In this position, you will be responsible for designing, prototyping, and iterating on product features and user experiences. You will utilize your design thinking and user research skills to create intuitive and engaging interfaces. You will develop high-quality design solutions, with a focus on usability, accessibility, and user satisfaction. By conducting user research, creating wireframes, prototypes, and design systems, you will contribute to the advancement of our product offerings and user engagement. Additionally, collaborating with cross-functional teams and supporting product strategy will be part of your responsibilities.
You'll work within our core principles of overdelivering on velocity and craft, owning every decision with transparent thinking, and obsessing over the details that matter while stripping away unnecessary complexity.
About you
We are looking for someone who embodies the following qualities for our Product Designer role:
• User-centered: We want someone who is genuinely passionate about understanding users and solving their problems through thoughtful design. Your empathy and user focus will drive you to continuously improve product experiences and user satisfaction.
• Detail-oriented: We value meticulousness and precision in our design work. As a Product Designer, you should have a keen eye for detail, ensuring that every interaction and interface element contributes to a seamless user experience.
• Collaborative: Collaboration is essential in our team. We are seeking a team player who enjoys working in a cross-functional environment, partnering closely with product managers, engineers, and researchers to bring innovative solutions to life.
• Problem Solver: As a Product Designer, you will encounter complex user and business challenges. We are looking for someone who enjoys problem-solving, can think systematically about user flows, and excels at finding creative solutions to design challenges.
• Strategic Communicator: Clear and effective communication is crucial in any team. You should be able to articulate design decisions, present user research findings, and communicate design rationale effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Systematic and Process-driven: Great product design requires structured thinking and methodology. We need someone who is systematic in their approach, able to follow design processes while knowing when to adapt and iterate.
• Growth mindset: We value candidates who are willing to expand their skills and embrace new design challenges. A growth mindset and eagerness to learn about emerging design trends, tools, and methodologies are highly appreciated.
• Quality-focused and reliable: Maintaining design standards and meeting project deadlines are essential. We need someone who can consistently deliver high-quality work and take ownership of the user experience outcomes.
• Curious and transparent: Open communication and curiosity are important to us. We encourage individuals who ask thoughtful questions, seek to understand user behavior, and are comfortable sharing their design process and insights with the team.
What you bring
• 7-10+ years of experience in Product or UI/UX Design, or 3-5+ years with an exceptional portfolio that demonstrates mastery and innovation.
• Expert proficiency in design tools (Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite).
• Strong understanding of user-centered design principles and methodologies.
• Experience with user research methods and usability testing.
• Knowledge of interaction design and prototyping techniques.
• Understanding of design systems and component-based design.
• Experience with responsive and mobile-first design approaches.
• Familiarity with front-end development principles (HTML, CSS basics).
• Strong presentation skills and ability to defend design decisions.
• Experience working in agile development environments.
• Proven track record of shipping successful digital products.
• Ability to balance user needs with business requirements and technical constraints.
Benefits
You will enjoy flexibility and responsibility, as fixed working hours are irrelevant to us as long as tasks are completed on time. As a remote-oriented company, we enable agile work practices, faster creativity, and ensure efficient operations. You can freely choose whether you want to continue working remotely or join us at one of our headquarters.
• Impact: From early-stage startups to global enterprises, the work you do here changes how brands compete, how products get used, and how people experience the companies behind them. Your work impacts millions.
• Growth: You'll work shoulder to shoulder with leads, designers and developers on real projects from day one. That proximity is the fastest way to grow, backed by budgets for the tools, courses and gear to keep getting sharper.
• Remote: You decide if you want to work remotely or in one of our hubs in Münster, Sofia, London and New York. We care that you do your best work with our diverse clients and missions, not where you sit to do it.
• Flexibility: We run in flat, cross-functional teams, more like squads than org chart, where design, dev, and lead ship together and decisions don't wait on sign-off chains. You manage your time, and we judge the work, not the hours.
• Community: You won't be a cog in a process. Whole teams sit together through every project, so the people you ship with become the people you actually know. Yearly off- sites and weekly cross-team work keep it real beyond the screen.
• Compensation: We never overlook potential. Offering strong salaries, plus revenue sharing so you own a piece of what we build together. Obsession with quality is the price of entry, but it also gets rewarded.
• Additional perks: Extra days (1-2 days a month) for recharging, health membership, pro bono projects for meaningful impact, and knowledge budget for continuous learning.
Might not fit if
• You're satisfied with "good enough" and don't feel the need to obsess over user experience details and design quality.
• You prefer working in isolation without regular collaboration with product managers, engineers, and other cross-functional team members.
• You're uncomfortable with the responsibility that comes with making design decisions that directly impact user satisfaction and business metrics.
• You avoid user research and prefer to make design decisions based on assumptions rather than data and user feedback.

Principle
We are not looking for someone to just fill a spot, we're looking for someone that drives and shapes our culture and collaboration and wants to push things further than ever before.
We believe that as a strong collective of obsessed minds, we can go far. Making an impact far beyond design and technology. We hire slowly and deliberately because every person shapes our standard.
Our core principles that influence the way we think and behave:
• Question everything: Before we commit to anything, we ask why, challenge the assumption, and make sure we're solving the right problem. Building the wrong thing well is still the wrong thing.
• Nothing hidden: Every choice gets explained and shared. The reasoning, the tradeoffs, the why. When everyone understands the thinking, the work gets sharper and decisions get faster.
• Built to move: Two projects at a time, senior-only, founder-led teams, no layers between you and the work. We're not fast because we rush. We're fast because nothing slows us down.
• No half measures: Great design is made of a thousand small decisions most people never see. We make them whether anyone notices or not. Our standard is so high that average is unacceptable.
Hiring process
- Portfolio review and expectation setting: We'll review your application and invite you for a 30-minute intro call to explore your background, story, and creative approach.
- Skill assessment with real-time task: Showcase your strengths and creativity through hands-on tasks with the dedicated team, either in a focused 90-minute session or over several days, depending on the task's complexity.
- Personality assessment: We'll invite you to a 45-minute session with our leadership to explore your unique perspective, work style, and how your obsession aligns with our drive for excellence.
- Joining our team: After confirming a genuine mutual fit, you will receive an offer to join us. We will onboard you into our systems, introduce you to the entire team, and provide you with all the necessary tools and processes. The journey from application to hire typically takes 1 to 3 weeks.
